ATOPOS: unusual, out of place, relating to atopy, which is a feeling of displacement, ineffability and unfamiliarity.

Atopos was a project which occurred in November 2023, during my stay at George Enescu National University of Arts in Iasi, Romania, as part of their international residency programme. Continuing the mixed media approach I have adopted in 2022 in KuBa:Kulturbahnhof and in 2019 at the Old School Residency, I explored themes of emotional ineffability, dislocation, alienation and fragmentation. Cut-out drawings, etchings, paintings, collage and installation.

The project resulted in a presentation at Aparte Gallery in Iasi and was funded by the European Union via the ‘Culture Moves Europe’ mobility grant, administered by the Goethe Foundation.
